PKZ204C.EXE IS OK! 1/6/92 From Bob Mahoney, Exec-PC BBS About the newest official release of the PKZIP and PKUNZIP software, filename PKZ204C.EXE from PKWARE, Inc. First of all, ignore the virus alerts. These are false alarms. Only one version of the Norton AntiVirus software will give a spurious warning, and that warning is false. Second, if you are in doubt about your copy of the software, download it directly from the Exec-PC BBS, Free file collection "C", PKZ204C.EXE. Be warned there already are some idiots out there who are distributing bogus versions of the software in renamed files. For now, until you hear otherwise from PKWARE or from Exec-PC, the only real distribution file is named PKZ204C.EXE. Finally, if you are having problems running portions of the new software in certain environments, namely Windows or OS/2 or other complex operating systems, please try the following option on the command line for PKZIP or PKUNZIP for turning off the DPMI option: -) The "-)" option most likely will fix the problems. Exec-PC will stick with the ZIP format for the Exec-PC BBS at this time. Bob Mahoney END OF INFO
